tree table

I'm really digging the organic live edge feel my new coffee table is giving. CL $20...not bad for a quick change up!

recent moments

Yep, it has arrived. The time in my life where my pre-teen daughter borrows my clothes...and looks better in them.

Did you know the reason we wear our wedding rings on the left hand third finger started because it's the only finger we have that has a vein directly connected to the heart? Well, I thought I would commemorate this tradition with a teeny tiny little tattoo.

I love my new pink skinnies and leopard booties. I have almost worn a hole in these boots since I got them a month ago. They go with everything y'all!

I ran into this crazy leprechaun man on St. Patties Day. He (I) insisted we have our photo taken. Okay. Huh?

And lastly, here is a video of my girls dancing. While they are eight years apart in age, there is much love between them. It's rare to capture a moment when they are expressing said love.

Have a great one!!

lorax fun!!

I took my girls to see The Lorax on Saturday. I LOVED this movie and it's message. I know it's controversial but everything is these days. Later that day, I did the mother of all "I can't believe I did this" moments in motherhood....I  bought ugly light up shoes for my little Bleu. Yep, I did it. Don't judge me people...if you had seen her face when she saw them, you would have too!

Enjoy these moments...

So happy with her plastic light up shoes!

Have a great week!

what i'm wearing for Valentine's Day

I will be working on Valentine's Day delivering these balloons to some MOD FOX patrons. {Have I mentioned I seriously heart my job?}

Any whoosey, this is what I will be wearing.

The dress is from Mod Cloth, the balloon is by me. Check out the MOD FOX blog for more of these silly photos.

i heart my kilim rug

Isn't she lovely?

my christmas present {remember this post}

My dining table's days are numbered wearing pink. I have a great metallic pewter that I'm going to paint it. I think the pink in the rug will stand out so much more this way. An eight foot long hot pink dining table was a bit much....albeit SOOO fun for awhile!!

wanna help this girl buy some shoes?

Check out a recent post on le Mod Fox's blog about neon.

This girl, in.real.life...is gonna buy some neon Jeffrey Campbells. Problem. I don't know what color to go with. Orange is out, green me thinks as well. It's between neon yellow or pink. I do already have a pair of hot pink cage sandals, but they are worn differently than these wedges. The pink will go with my black leather leggings, my merlot coated J Brands, and a lot of outfits for summer with turquoise. The yellow however is so stinkin cute and bright and playful. Thoughts people? HELP ME PLEASE!!!

I realize the irony that my last post was about purchasing fewer non-essentials this year. It has to be noted these will be paid for with a credit at the mother ship that is known as Nordstroms. The end.

Throw a bad blogger a bone people!

resolved

2011 looked something like this...

I constantly felt like I was trying to keep my head above water. Now, don't get me wrong...this was mostly self-imposed. I took on a lot of projects, a lot of busy work, and really focused on building my brand and my business.

This brings me to my 2012 resolutions.
I'm going to unplug. I'm going to start living more and stop blogging so much. You see, blogging started for me not as a way to make money or be the best {obviously}. It was an outlet. I had just had my third child and was feeling a little trapped in my own home. I began blogging as an escape as well as to instill a love of home life and nesting. It worked. I gained amazing inspiration as well as new friendships. However, now I find the need to re-engage with reality.

So, I am going to unplug. Here is how....

1. Blog when I feel like it not because I have to. {I have already been doing this}

2. Get rid of TV...well, Direct TV anyway. DONE. Called them yesterday and now we have no TV other than Netflix streaming.

3. Read one book a month.

4. Craft every day with my kids.

5. Limit my Pinterest time. This will help with less consumerism as well. Every time I see something I love it creates a new "need" that I really don't need.

6.  Start living for the future, not just for the now.

7. Thoughtful purchasing. I want to really put thought into each purchase, not just big ones. Is it something I need, does the "want" justify the price, price per wear, etc.

Why is this my New Years resolution....

 FAMILY.
I need to stop parenting on auto pilot.
I need to prioritize my husband.
 THE END.

I sincerely hope that 2012 is the best year for ALL!

Blessed,

Amy

my christmas present...I got on the kilim bandwagon

I love what I have done with our dining and family area. I infused it with warmth by adding gray, introduced a few industrial pieces and brought out some distressed items from the closet. The only thing missing to take it to a new level was a little modern bohemian color. Know what I mean? Kinda like this...

And here is my inspiration photo from Amber Lewis from Amber Interiors. I LOVE this rug! I had to have something similar...so, the hunt began.

I stalked Ebay, Etsy, Craigslist, etc for two weeks. It was not hard to find great rugs, just hard to find one long enough to go under my eight foot long dining table.  Then I stumbled upon this baby...
{sorry for the blurry photo I had to take a screen shot}
You knew I had to have pink in this rug...right? I love it so much and it did not even deter me when my husband said it looked south western. I kinda don't care.
Right about the time I found it, the hubs asked what I wanted for Christmas. Ta-da!! Any who, it will arrive in the next two to four weeks from Turkey. Want to hear something ironic. I was in Turkey about six years ago and almost purchased a vintage kilim rug while there. The cost to get it back was WAY too much so I passed. I've always regretted it, and now it has been made right.

Here is a photo of my friend Jessa and I in Turkey...

LOL!! I was so blonde back then!

I will post photos of the rug when it arrives...until then güle güle, Goodbye in Turkish!

new stuff around the abode

Vintage typewriter that works!

An arrangement of greens with rope in the vase.

I added gray to my family space. New felt on the chair, gray linen curtains, industrial side table. LOVE.

Now back to the regularly programmed schedule....my crazy life!

patience is the word of the day...

Did you know I'm not a fan of "labels". Meaning....I don't buy things just because it's a name brand. I don't let my children wear clothing that says a name brand on it, because lets face it, I'm not getting paid to represent that company. I love quality in everything I buy and I always consider price per wear or use. Sometimes this means I pay more for a brand that is better quality. Sometimes this means I buy something cheap knowing I won't wear it next season {or next week}. I purchased a pair of H by Hudson boots this year and I scoured the web to find the best deal. As it turns out Ebay offered them to me at half price. Still a pretty penny. Now, two months later good ole Steve Madden has come out with an exact replica. I'm not sure how I feel about this. I'm happy to have my originals, but I'm always happy to have extra cash in my wallet.

Here is my boot at a $300 price point....

And here is Steve Madden's version for $129...

What are your thoughts on knock offs? I'd love to hear em....

oh yeah, i want to re-do my entire house...

....after finding this image on Pinterest I linked back to it's owner and OMG {as my 12 year old would say}.

Alaina has created such a magical space and it has full on inspired me to add gray to my spaces. All of my rooms have a heavy influence of black and white and I am now craving the warmth of gray for Fall and Winter. Any ideas of how to go about this? Christine?

Seriously, look at her office!

And this Kitchen? So simple and chic.

There is nothing too glamorous or over the top about her home. It's fairly non complex and very attainable. This is my style. I don't ever want my spaces to feel overly decorated.

Jump here to read more about LIVE CREATING YOURSELF by Alaina. A very inspirational read indeed!

Hello!!

I've been MIA but you'll forgive me....right?

Making plans for the upcoming Thanks Giving holiday and I decided to go home this year. Home. I guess it still feels like home is where my mom is. I need some family time about right now. There are three people I so desperately miss during this time of year...my parents of course and my cousin who is my bestie forever. I am really looking forward to seeing them this week. On another note, my good friends over at The Now Stylebook had me over for a guest post playing celebrity dress up. Fun stuff people, go check it out!

Now for some eye candy and inspiration.

How cute is this Thanks Giving Tree!

This space inspires me in so many ways although I'm not sure about the photo collage table runner...huh?

Now, this is perfection!

So feminine and glamorous. Shoe perfection.

Sometimes I don't feel strong enough. So, I run home to mommy for a recharge.

Thank you for your grace as I navigate through what has literally been the busiest season of my life!

Amy

all hallows eve

Stopping by for an update of our Halloween. Olive is missing in this update because she was missing all night...out candy hunting! Dash was a little woodsman and Stella Bleu was a hot air balloon pilot.

I love that they LOVE each other right now!

boots, crafts, thrifty finds

I created this bulletin board for a client project out of a burlap coffee grain sack and cool upholstery tacks. The skull is a Good Will find...god bless the GW. The boots are my lustful purchase albeit from Ebay at half price. The H by Hudson Encke bootie....comfortable, amazing quality and simply divine!

And in Instagram...

What boots did you buy this fall?

another hipstamatic weekend

It's been decided that ZARA does in fact have the most adorable clothing for little boys...

I could NOT be happier about scoring this vintage pink cash register, and it works!

My friend Allison had an open house for her sewing lounge, her collections are wonderful!

And this balloon was my gift to her...

My kiddos got into all my "balloon makin" stuff and made a mess. I thought it was kinda pretty...

New chalk art on my chalkboard paint canvas. Who doesn't need a little amazing grace at times?

I hope your weekend was as lovely as you are!
